Established as a limited company specializing in shipping and insurance in 1896, by founders George Bennett and George Bryson, Brysons went on to become a diversified company with interests in manufacturing, wholesale, retail, and plantations. It was the largest conglomerate in the country and the biggest private sector employer.
During the 20th century, Brysons changed hands several times, restructuring
along the way as a result of foreign ownership and changes in government legislation. In the last decade, it has regained its status as a truly Antiguan and Barbadian business. In 2005, Patrick Ryan led a management buyout and the company has now been owned for over ten years by managing director of Brysons Insurance, Majory Parchment; Nathan Dundas as Brysons Shipping manager; and Patrick Ryan as managing director.

Brysons Insurance has corresponding brokers in the USA, London and the Caribbean to enable the provision of coverage on all types of insurance, whether on land, sea or in the air.

GEO W. BENNETT, BRYSON & CO. LTD represents some of the Caribbean and the world’s leading shipping companies.

“We feel very local, we have established ourselves in two of the main services – shipping and insurance – that is our core business. As you can see Brysons has a rich and long history in the country.”

Mr. Patrick Ryan, Managing Director of Brysons
