Hayut International started as a telecommunications company, but has now evolved into new areas like renewable energy. What would you say is your main focus is right now?

We have always been interested in developing unique and innovative solutions.  We are trying to launch new products like the SmartFlower in renewable energy, security systems, cyber security, and communications. For example, we have a headset that an engineer could wear while in the field which comes with a camera, microphone, and an earpiece. If the engineer comes across a problem, instead of flying a specialist over to the site, they can instruct them directly through the headset on how to fix the problem.

How has the company evolved over the years?

We started off in telecommunications, selling the first block phones in Oman. From there we started going into the fields of military, defense, and industry. We used telecommunications as a launching point, and developed communications systems for the Ministry of Defense.  From there we moved on to ammunition, weaponry, and vehicles. We have evolved by simplifying our process for updating. We simply find what is outdated, and offer the best solution based on that. Sometimes we have to tell clients why they need a certain solution.

Amidst increased competition in Oman, and within the region, how do you position Hayut as the partner of choice in Oman?

We see ourselves as agents and consultants, and we are very flexible with our ability to help, no matter what the customers need is. At first we were the only ones, but slowly others started coming in and doing the same thing we do. We have always had a good relationship with the government.

Our credibility of providing flexible solutions speaks for itself. Our ammunition, for example, we have low quality, medium quality, and high quality for clients to choose from. We try to make it easy for them to have trials and demonstrations.

You provide innovative products like the Smart Flower, but how else would you like to increase your offer?

The SmartFlower has been challenging because it is new technology. The challenge is convincing clients that the product is worth the price. We have the only SmartFlower in Oman, which has a 25-year performance guarantee.  Our company also partners with a British company that provides high quality security systems, and with this service, you can custom-build a package that suits your needs.

As you move forward, what type of new clients or partners would you like to attract?

I’m trying to get into the oil industry with the communication device that was explained earlier. I would also like to develop sewage disposal systems, renewable energy, and recycling. If you think about the waste that comes from just one city, it’s a disaster. People burn trash, bury it, or send in it off on barges to sea, but all of these methods still harm the environment.  It is very important to find a solution to these problems, and attract new partners and clients that will bring new ideas and solutions to the company.

What is your vision for the medium term?

I want the company to do more sales that promote green solutions and preserving the environment. Our country and our company have a great interest in renewable energy, and the development of this technology. Here in Oman we welcome change and new ideas with open arms.
